Question 1

State True or False for each of the following statements:

(i) For any two positive integers a and b, a + (—b) = (—a) ÷ b, where b ≠ 0

(ii) For any two positive integers a and b, (-a) + (-b) = a ÷ b, where b ≠ 0

(iii) Any integer divided by 1 gives the same integer i.e. for any integer a , a÷1 = a

(iv) 0 ÷ (-11)= 0 or  0÷27 = 0

(v) (a ÷ b)÷ c = a ÷ (b ÷ c)


Question 2

Fill in the blanks

(i) 268 ÷ __ = 268

(ii) (-82) ÷ __ = -1

(iii) __÷(65) = 1

(iv) __ ÷ 1 = -118

(v) 60 ÷ __ = -6

(vi) __ ÷ (7) = -3


Question 3

Given : 

(i) a = 18 , b= -3 , c = 2

(ii) a = (-20) , b = -1 , c = -1

Evaluate:

(i) 0 ÷ 75

(ii) (-125) ÷ (-5)

(iii) [(-8)+7]÷[(-5)+4]

Find the value of x :

(i) x÷(-14) = -7

(ii) x÷(18) = -3

(i)  Show that (-100)÷(5) is same as 100÷(5)

(ii) Show that (-18)÷[6÷(-1)]≠[(-18)÷(6)÷(-1)]

(iii) Show that {(-72)÷(-9)}÷{(-20)÷(-5)}=2


Question 7

The product of two integers is 189. If one integer is -9 , find the other .
